JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy has demanded immediate ground-level action from the district administration to resolve Mango’s recurring traffic congestion.
For over six months, Roy has highlighted the issue to both the administration and police, yet no significant actions have followed. He recently learned through news reports about a meeting held by officials on this matter. However, no tangible results have emerged from it so far.
Urgent Measures Proposed for Heavy Vehicles
Speaking to East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal on Sunday, Roy pressed for strict regulation of heavy vehicle entry. He suggested limiting their movement to between midnight and 6 AM to reduce daytime congestion. Vehicles from Ranchi via Dobho and those from Seraikela should comply with this timing, he stated.
Roy emphasized that unregulated truck movement is a major cause of traffic jams across Jamshedpur. Mango Bridge, in particular, faces daily gridlock, disrupting commuters and businesses alike.
Wider Traffic Issues Across the City
The problem isn’t limited to Mango Bridge. Roy pointed out that nearly a dozen other areas in Jamshedpur also require better traffic management. He warned of potential public agitation, stating that residents might block vehicles if the administration fails to act promptly.
Experts have noted that cities facing similar challenges have successfully implemented measures like smart traffic systems and dedicated freight corridors. Adopting these strategies could significantly ease the traffic burden in Jamshedpur. Roy’s persistent advocacy highlights the urgency of addressing this long-standing issue.
