MEDININAGAR – Acting on a tip, Medininagar police arrested two men with brown sugar and a stolen bike behind the Jod Shiv Temple.
The Medininagar police team, led by CO Amar Deep Singh Balhotra, detained Prashant Pandey and Vishal Kumar Chandra Vansi with 20 grams of brown sugar valued around ₹4 lakh.
Police seized the stolen motorcycle, ₹10,400 in cash, and a Vivo mobile phone from the suspects.
SP Reeshma Rameshan stated that the operation followed a tip-off on suspected drug activity near the temple.
In questioning, the suspects admitted that they sourced brown sugar from Garhwa and sold it in the Daltonganj area.
The bike, reportedly stolen, was utilized for drug transportation within the city.
Previously, police had recovered brown sugar from Chiyanki and near St. Xavier School, revealing broader drug activities in Medininagar.
The police team involved in the raid included Inspector Uttam Kumar Rai, Sub-Inspector Ranjeet Kumar, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Nabi Ansari.
Authorities are intensifying raids to curb the regional drug trade, which allegedly involves both men and women from the local community.
