CHANDIL – A tragic human-elephant encounter in Seraikela district results in the death of a young villager.
The incident took place in Rasunia village under Chandil police station.
Moreover, the victim, identified as Samal Murmu, was trampled by a wild elephant.
"The elephant chased Murmu for about 100 meters before the fatal encounter," an eyewitness stated.
Furthermore, the tragedy occurred as villagers attempted to drive the elephant from a paddy field.
Forest officer Radha Raman Thakur promptly arrived at the scene to investigate.
Additionally, the victim’s body was sent to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
The deceased’s family will receive an immediate relief of Rs 50,000.
