Mumbai-Howrah Mail Halted in Jalgaon After Bomb Threat, No Explosives Found

Train searched for 2 hours in Jalgaon after social media threat

Key Points:

• Bomb threat on Mumbai-Howrah Mail prompted 2-hour search in Jalgaon

• No explosives found, threat deemed a hoax after thorough inspection

• Security agencies on high alert following multiple recent threats

JAMSHEDPUR – A bomb threat targeting the Mumbai-Howrah Mail triggered a security alert, causing temporary disruption to rail services.

The incident unfolded early Monday morning near Jalgaon, Maharashtra.

Authorities halted train number 12809 around 4 AM for a thorough search.

The threat, received via social media platform X, claimed a timer bomb was on board.

Security teams, including the Railway Protection Force, conducted an extensive inspection.

After a two-hour search, no suspicious items or explosives were discovered.

"The threat appears to be a hoax," stated a news report quoting a railway official.

Meanwhile, the incident has heightened security measures across the railway network.

This threat follows similar recent scares targeting multiple transportation modes.

An Air India flight to New York also received a bomb threat on the same day.

Additionally, IndiGo flights to Jeddah and Muscat faced similar threats.

"We’re taking all threats seriously, regardless of their credibility," emphasized a news report quoting an official.

Last week, a bomb threat delayed the Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express for over three hours.

That incident, too, turned out to be false after thorough investigation.

These recurring threats have put security agencies on high alert.

Many passengers from Jharkhand, including those from Tatanagar, were on the Mumbai-Howrah Mail.

Despite the scare, no injuries or harm were reported among the travelers.

Authorities are investigating the source of these threats.

The incident highlights the ongoing challenges in balancing security and smooth rail operations.
