JAMSHEDPUR – As the Jharkhand elections approach, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has traveled to New Delhi for crucial discussions regarding seat-sharing within the INDIA alliance.
The meeting, held with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, signals the start of formal negotiations between the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress.
The talks are expected to focus on distributing seats based on each party’s regional strength.
Sources indicate that after discussions with Congress, further negotiations will take place with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist).
Soren’s Delhi visit is being closely watched as local party leaders engage in their own talks over key seats.
It is expected that a final seat-sharing formula will be established by the end of the week.
The INDIA alliance, comprising JMM, Congress, RJD, and CPI(ML), plans to contest the elections together with a carefully screened distribution of seats.
Each seat will be reviewed before assigning tickets to candidates, with strongholds being prioritized for each party.
Soren is also likely to meet Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi during his Delhi stay.
