JAMTARA – Police in Jamtara have arrested four West Bengal criminals involved in stealing mobile tower batteries.
The gang had been targeting mobile towers in various areas of Jamtara district, causing widespread concern.
Police recovered tools used for battery theft as well as stolen batteries during the arrests.
According to Superintendent of Police Ehtesham Bakrib, the investigation began after a recent theft from a mobile tower in Ghogikata village, in the Bindapathar police station area, was reported.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested one suspect in the Nala police station area.
Following his interrogation, the remaining three gang members were apprehended in Asansol, West Bengal.
Bakrib confirmed that the gang had been operating for some time, stealing batteries from several towers.
Police are continuing investigations to track down other members of the criminal network.
