Expelled JMM MLA Lobin Hembrom Joins BJP in Ranchi
Former Borio legislator switches parties in presence of Assam CM and BJP leaders
Lobin Hembrom, expelled JMM MLA, joined BJP, citing dissatisfaction with JMM’s current state of affairs.
RANCHI – Former JMM legislator Lobin Hembrom joined BJP in Ranchi, expressing discontent with JMM’s current leadership.
Hembrom, the ex-Borio MLA, made the transition to BJP at the state party office in Ranchi on Saturday.
Assam Chief Minister and BJP’s Jharkhand election co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed him to the party.
The induction ceremony was attended by BJP state unit chief Babulal Marandi and former Chief Minister Champai Soren, who had joined BJP a day earlier.
Hembrom expressed his disappointment with the current state of JMM, stating, "JMM is not the same as it used to be during Guruji Shibu Soren’s time."
He highlighted the party’s internal issues, saying, "Everyone in the party is upset with the JMM due to a handful of papers."
The former JMM legislator pointed out the disrespect shown to senior leaders like Champai Soren, questioning the treatment of other party members.
"I was with JMM since childhood till 2024. But see how the party treated me," Hembrom remarked, reflecting on his long association with JMM.
After joining BJP, Hembrom expressed his satisfaction, stating, "I’m feeling extremely good after joining the BJP."
He also mentioned plans to address Bangladeshi infiltration in the Santhal Pargana region and protect the interests of tribals and natives in Jharkhand.
Hembrom’s expulsion from JMM earlier this year came after he contested the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate from Rajmahal constituency.
A local political analyst commented, "Hembrom’s switch to BJP could potentially shift the political dynamics in the Santhal Pargana region, given his influence among tribal voters."
