East Singhbhum district has established a core committee to address the growing concern of Thalassemia and ensure timely access to medical resources for patients.

JAMSHEDPUR – District Magistrate Ananya Mittal has formed a District Core Committee to raise awareness about Thalassemia and ensure blood availability for patients in East Singhbhum.

The Deputy Development Commissioner will lead the committee, with the Civil Surgeon of East Singhbhum serving as Secretary.

Members include district administration officers and Thalassemia Society of Jamshedpur representatives.

The committee aims to extend the Thalassemia awareness campaign throughout the district.

Thalassemia, a hereditary blood disorder, causes severe hemoglobin deficiency and anemia.

The initiative focuses on increasing awareness, identifying new cases, and implementing proactive measures.

Pre-conception testing during marriage registration is among the campaign’s key objectives.

Committee members include experts from various fields, ensuring a comprehensive approach.

The first meeting will discuss potential risks and formulate an effective action plan.

This move demonstrates the district’s commitment to controlling the spread of Thalassemia.

The committee’s diverse composition brings together a broad range of expertise to tackle the issue.
