Five-Day Bhumij Dance and Music Workshop Concludes at Tangrain School

Traditional Bhumij dance and music workshop, organized by Tata Steel Foundation and Adivasi Romoz Akhara, successfully concludes.

A five-day workshop on Bhumij traditional music and dance, held at the Upgraded Middle School, Tangrain, under the joint initiative of Tata Steel Foundation and Adivasi Romoz Akhara, concluded successfully on August 10, 2024.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Upgraded Middle School in Tangrain successfully hosted a five-day workshop on Bhumij traditional music and dance from August 6 to August 10, 2024.

The workshop, organized by Tata Steel Foundation and Adivasi Romoz Akhara, saw enthusiastic participation from students who presented the skills they learned during the event.

During the closing ceremony, Principal Arbind Tiwari honored the trainers and meritorious students.

Students who performed well in the Navodaya exam preparations, including Adarsh Das, Poonam Sardar, and Dev Mandal, were also awarded.

The ceremony was attended by social workers Mohanlal Sardar, Jai Hari Singh Munda, Ujjwal Kumar Mandal, Shankar Hembram, and other distinguished guests.

Project Coordinator Babulal Goipai highlighted the workshop’s main goal of preserving and promoting the traditional culture of the Bhumij tribe, which is at risk of disappearing.

The workshop focused on teaching the basics of playing traditional instruments, dance, and music, aiming to instill interest and enthusiasm in students for their cultural heritage.

Trainers Subhash Sardar, Dashrath Sardar, Samu Sardar, Saraswati Sardar, Dumni Murmu, and Sangita Samad played key roles in making the workshop a success.
