Jamshedpur Celebrates World Tribal Day with Colorful Events

Diverse tribal communities showcase rich cultural heritage at Gopal Maidan

Jamshedpur marks World Tribal Day with vibrant celebrations, empowering indigenous youth as agents of change.

JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur observed World Tribal Day on Friday with a series of colorful and diverse events celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the region’s indigenous communities.

The Adivasi Chhatra Ekta Central Committee organized the main celebration at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur.

The event drew a large gathering of tribal students and youth from the Kolhan region.

Various tribal communities, including Ho, Santhal, Munda, Bhumij, Mahali, Kharia, and Gond, participated in the festivities.

Hundreds of participants donned traditional costumes and played indigenous musical instruments.

Josai Mardi, chief patron of Adivasi Chhatra Ekta, emphasized the focus on empowering tribal youth as agents of change.

The celebration featured 25 stalls showcasing tribal costumes, musical instruments, books, and traditional food and drinks.

"These stalls are a window into our rich cultural heritage," remarked one of the organizers.

Concurrent events were held across Jamshedpur to mark the occasion.

The Adivasi Mahasabha organized discussions at Baridih Shakuntala Udyan.

Ghaghi Buru Pudsi Majhi Akhara conducted a puja and public meeting at Baghbeda Sido-Kanhu Ground.

Adivasi Ekta Manch held a bike rally from Professor Digambar Hansda Chowk to Tilka Majhi Stadium Baliguma.

An Adivasi Ekta Shobha Yatra proceeded from Baba Tilka Majhi Chowk Dimna to Dharti Aba Birsa Munda Sakchi roundabout.

Sarjamda Pudsi Pinda organized a bike rally from EGL Ground.

Samajik Seva Sangh hosted a cultural program at Govindpur Primary School Ground.
