MGM Medical College Hostel Eviction on Hold After Principal’s Exit
New leadership awaited to address ongoing ragging concerns
The process to vacate MGM Medical College Hospital hostel has been suspended following administrative changes.
JAMSHEDPUR – The evacuation of MGM Medical College Hospital hostel has been temporarily halted due to the retirement of Principal Dr. K.N. Singh on July 31.
Sub-Divisional Officer of Dhalbhum, Parul Singh, stated that concrete actions regarding the hostel situation await the appointment of a new principal.
MGM Superintendent Ravindra Kumar is currently serving as the acting principal during this transitional period.
The delay is particularly significant as the college hostel has faced two incidents of ragging this year.
The Anti-Ragging Committee had previously recommended expelling ineligible students residing in the hostels.
Some interns continue to occupy the student hostel, despite the committee’s recommendations.
Junior doctors are still residing in the intern hostel on Jail Road in Sakchi, contrary to the evacuation plan.
The committee had set a one-week deadline for these students to arrange alternative accommodations.
Failure to comply with the deadline was supposed to result in forced evacuation of the hostel.
The administrative gap has put this evacuation process on hold, potentially prolonging the existing issues.
Concerns about student safety and proper hostel management remain unaddressed during this interim period.
The appointment of a new principal is crucial for implementing the Anti-Ragging Committee’s recommendations.
The situation highlights the impact of administrative changes on addressing urgent student welfare issues.
Stakeholders are awaiting further directions from the new leadership to resolve the ongoing hostel situation.
The delay in hostel evacuation underscores the need for continuity in addressing critical issues during leadership transitions.
