Chandil Dam Releases Water to Clean Jamshedpur’s Water Supply

2000 cusecs released to clear debris in Mohrda Water Supply Scheme

Chandil Dam’s water release aims to clean Mohrda Water Supply Scheme’s intake well, potentially restoring Jamshedpur’s water supply.

JAMSHEDPUR – At the special request of MLA Saryu Roy, Chandil Dam has released 2000 cusecs of water to clear debris from Jamshedpur’s Mohrda Water Supply Scheme.

The water release from Chandil Dam is expected to clear the accumulated debris in the intake well of the Mohrda Water Supply Scheme located in Birsanagar, Jamshedpur.

Chandil Dam’s Executive Engineer Sanjay Singh stated that five gates were opened at MLA Saryu Roy’s special request.

The 2000 cusecs water pressure is anticipated to clean out debris and restore drinking water supply from Mohrda to the residents.

Four radial gates and one sluice gate have been opened for this purpose.

The action was taken to ensure the availability of essential water to the people.

Water scarcity had previously hindered the supply through the Mohrda Water Supply Scheme.

Low water levels had also been causing difficulties in water distribution.

The water release has led to an increase in the Subarnarekha River’s water level.

This increase is expected to normalize water supply in the area.

Other regions have also experienced improved water levels as a result of this action.
