Pickup Van Overturns in Jamshedpur, One Dead, Many Injured
Accident in Daladali-Itamara leaves one dead and several injured; driver flees scene.
A pickup van carrying laborers overturned in Jamshedpur’s MGM police station area between Daladali and Itamara on Wednesday morning at around 8:30 AM.
JAMSHEDPUR – Around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a pickup van that was carrying laborers overturned erratically in a field located between Daladali and Itamara, under the MGM police station.
The incident resulted in the immediate death of one laborer, Gurupodo Singh, and the severe injuries of dozens of other laborers.
The pickup van’s driver fled the scene promptly following the collision.
The injured were transported to MGM Hospital by local residents, including the village chief of Itamara, Indrajit Kisku, who rushed to the scene. They were transported in ambulances and police vans.
The laborers, both male and female, were traversing from Bhima Arjun Jaspur in Bengal to Jamshedpur in search of employment, according to recent reports.
When the van lost control and overturned in the field, the mishap took place near a sharp turn between Itamara and Daladali.
The laborers who sustained severe injuries were transported to MGM Hospital for medical attention.
