Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Jharkhand Over Next 48 Hours
IMD predicts thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas amid ongoing rainfall deficit
Jharkhand braces for heavy rainfall in isolated areas as IMD issues an alert, despite the state’s current 43% rain deficit.
RANCHI – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for isolated areas in Jharkhand over the next 48 hours, as well as lightning and thunderstorm predictions.
Weather officials anticipate substantial rainfall in isolated regions of the western, southern, and adjoining central regions of Jharkhand.
On August 1, it is likely that isolated locations in the north-western, north-central, and adjacent north-eastern regions of the state will experience torrential rainfall.
On Friday, August 2, the southwest and northeastern regions are expected to experience significant rainfall.
At present, a monsoon trough is extending east-southward to the northeast Bay of Bengal and is traversing Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Gwalior, Churk, and Balasore at mean sea level.
A cyclonic circulation is present over Jharkhand and its adjacent areas at a height of 3.1 to 7.6 km above mean sea level, with a southward inclination that increases with height.
Despite the imminent torrential rainfall, Jharkhand is presently experiencing a significant rain deficit of 43%.
The state’s 24 districts are still classified as deficient in rainfall.
The objective of the alert is to guarantee that the authorities and residents are adequately prepared to manage the anticipated weather conditions.
Officials are recommending caution and readiness for the potential repercussions of the anticipated torrential rainfall.
