Two-day event to celebrate World Tribal Day with cultural extravaganza

Jharkhand government plans diverse program showcasing tribal heritage, arts, and cuisine at Bhagwan Birsa Memorial Park.

RANCHI – In August, the state capital will host a colorful celebration of indigenous customs and culture.

On August 9 and 10, the Welfare Department of Jharkhand is putting on a large tribal celebration to commemorate World Tribal Day.

There will be a wide range of cultural events and displays during the two days of the festival, which will be held at Ranchi’s Bhagwan Birsa Memorial Park.

To guarantee thorough preparations for the celebration, Welfare Minister Deepak Birua recently presided over a review meeting.

"We aim to invite tribal thinkers, experts, and respected individuals from across India to participate in this celebration," Minister Birua said.

The festival will feature displays of jewelry, costumes, instruments, Dokra art, and Kohbar art, among other tribal history, art, and jewelry shows.

Authentic tribal cuisine will be available for sampling at specially designed food kiosks during the event.

Additionally scheduled are an exhibition of schemes pertaining to the Scheduled Tribe population and a lecture on the leasing of forest rights.

A magnificent welcome with 100 drums and a procession of dancing groups from 32 tribal villages will start the event.

A government official stated, "We’re inviting art groups from different states to participate and enrich the festival’s cultural tapestry."

The Tribal Research Institute’s and other countries’ documentaries on tribal cultures will be screened during the event.
