Heavy rainfall predicted across Jharkhand districts as weather department issues alerts
Jamshedpur residents welcome rain after prolonged dry spell, bringing relief from heat and water scarcity concerns in Kolhan region.
JAMSHEDPUR – The steel city recorded 33.8 mm of rainfall on Monday between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM, offering respite from the recent heat wave.
The much-anticipated monsoon showers have finally arrived in Jamshedpur and its surrounding areas, bringing relief to residents who have been grappling with a prolonged dry spell.
Meteorological experts predict the rainy weather will persist for the next few days, potentially alleviating water scarcity concerns in the Kolhan region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alerts for several districts in Jharkhand, including East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Saraikela-Kharsawan, warning of heavy rainfall.
"We’re expecting substantial precipitation across various parts of the state this week," stated a local weather official. "This should help reduce the current rainfall deficit."
Despite the recent showers, Jharkhand has received only 203.5 mm of rain since June 1, falling short of the normal 414.9 mm expected during this period.
Jamshedpur recorded a maximum temperature of 33.8°C and a minimum of 26.2°C on Monday, while Bokaro registered the highest temperature in the state at 36.8°C.
Authorities advise residents to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during heavy rainfall.
