Sandeep Bhattacharya has been appointed as the new Vice President of Tata Steel. Currently serving as the Chief Financial Operations and Business Finance, he will assume his new role as Vice President of Financial Operations, Control, and Business Finance starting August 1.
JAMSHEDPUR – Sandeep Bhattacharya has been appointed as the new Vice President of Tata Steel, taking over from Sanjeev Nanda, who will retire on September 1.
Transition and Responsibilities
Sandeep Bhattacharya will start his transition on August 1 and will fully take over the responsibilities from Sanjeev Nanda, the current Vice President of Finance Operations and Corporate Reporting, on September 1.
The appointment was made by Tata Steel MD and CEO TV Narendran.
Background and Expertise
Sandeep Bhattacharya is well-known for his expertise in finance. He joined Tata Steel in 2011 and has served in various capacities, including Chief Finance and Accounts for the Odisha Project.
Before joining Tata Steel, he worked with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited for 13 years and managed finance and treasury functions at Essar Investments. He also served as Assistant Vice President at Bharat Oman Refineries Limited.
Significant Contributions
Bhattacharya played a pivotal role when Tata Group was taking over Air India, handling all financial matters on behalf of Tata Steel’s team.
In 2014, he was appointed Chief Financial Transactions and Control at Tata Steel, and in 2019, he became Chief Financial Operations and Business Finance.
Future Role
As the new Vice President, Bhattacharya will oversee financial operations, control, and business finance, ensuring the company’s financial health and stability.
