JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s plan to fence off land for a park in Burmamines East Plant Colony was halted as residents opposed the move, forcing the team to retreat.
The Tata Steel land department, along with Tata Steel UISL, faced strong resistance from local residents in Burmamines East Plant Colony when they attempted to fence off land for park construction.
Residents accused the team of improper land fencing and chased them away.
This incident occurred on Tuesday when the teams arrived together to measure the land.
Part of a house near the Atal Community Center needed to be demolished for the fencing, which sparked further outrage among residents.
A local resident stated, "We support park construction but not at the cost of our homes."
Residents also expressed concerns about a single road being constructed, which would complicate access to the colony.
The commotion led to the team’s immediate retreat.
