Odisha Governor’s Son Accused of Assaulting Official

Lalit Das, Son of Former Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das, Faces Serious Allegations

The son of Odisha’s Governor and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das has been accused of assaulting a Raj Bhavan official, sparking outrage and protests in Odisha.

JAMSHEDPUR – A major controversy has erupted in Odisha after Lalit Das, son of Governor Raghubar Das, allegedly assaulted an official at the Raj Bhavan.

The incident has led to widespread condemnation and calls for action against the Governor’s son.

This is not the first time when Mr. Raghubar Das has been in a soup all thanks to his close family members. Several such incidents have occurred in the past too in his home town Jamshedpur.

Last Sunday, the nephew of Raghubar Das, Kamalesh Sahu, was in the news as he was mercilessly assaulted in Sitaramdera area.

According to reports, he got into a verbal duel with a few people and after that went again to that place with some of his friends, where he was allegedly assaulted.

Kamalesh Sahu was accused by the other side of having created a ruckus in an inebriated condition.

However, the latest incident involving his son Lalit Das is far more serious as it involves a staff member of Raj Bhavan and has actually ballooned into a major crisis for Raghubar Das.

Key Developments:

1. Written complaint filed with Odisha Raj Bhavan’s Principal Secretary

2. Victim’s wife lodged a separate complaint at local police station

3. Secretariat employees threaten to protest if action is not taken

4. Allegations of “hooliganism” against Lalit Das

Details of the Incident:

According to the complaint filed by Baikuntha Pradhan, Assistant Section Officer at Raj Bhavan:

– The assault occurred on July 7, during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Puri

– Lalit Das allegedly summoned Pradhan around 11:45 PM

– Das reportedly slapped and verbally abused Pradhan for not sending a luxury car

– The victim claims he was chased and further beaten by Das’s personal security guard

Pradhan stated, “Lalit Das even threatened to kill me. Even after I hid in the NSC, I was found through CCTV and beaten again.”

Aftermath and Reactions:

1. Odisha Secretariat Service Association has registered a protest

2. Demands for strict action against Lalit Das on social media

3. Allegations that police have not filed an FIR despite complaints

“The association strongly condemns the incident that occurred. Such actions are completely unacceptable and have no place in our society. We want the intervention of the administration,” stated Odisha Secretariat Service Association in its statement.

It further added: “OSS Association once again requests Hon’ble @CMO_Odisha to kindly intervene in the matter personally and give proper justice to Mr Pradhan. We still have high hopes from our Government and administration.”

The incident has put former Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das in a difficult position, with growing pressure for him to address the allegations against his son.

As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on the Odisha government and law enforcement agencies to see how they handle this sensitive case involving the Governor’s family.
