Karthik Munda, a notorious criminal from Jamshedpur and Seraikela-Kharsawan, died after sustaining injuries while trying to escape a police raid.
JAMSHEDPUR – Karthik Munda, a wanted criminal linked to numerous cases in Jamshedpur and Seraikela-Kharsawan, died after jumping from the third floor of an apartment during a police raid on Thursday midnight.
The police raided Mittal Apartment in Sonari Sangam Bihar’s Kunj Nagar in search of Munda.
As the police attempted to apprehend him, Munda jumped from the third floor, resulting in severe injuries.
He was rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where he succumbed to his injuries.
Munda’s wife claimed that he was in good health when the police took him away, and she received the news of his death shortly afterward.
The raid involved police teams from Seraikela and Jamshedpur’s Sonari police stations.
Munda was allegedly associated with the Akhilesh Singh gang before aligning with rival Paramjit Singh, who was later killed in jail.
Munda was a key witness in Paramjit’s murder case but had retracted his statement.
He was a resident of Sitaramdera and had created havoc in Adityapur, Gamharia, Chandil, and other areas.
Munda had over 20 cases registered against him and had a rivalry with another criminal in Adityapur.
During the raid, police seized firearms and other weapons from Munda.
The joint police team had surrounded the area based on information about his whereabouts.
When the police were escorting him out of the flat, Munda attempted to flee by jumping from the third floor, leading to his fatal injuries.
His family has accused the police of foul play, alleging that he was killed by the police from Seraikela and Jamshedpur.
The police have not yet made any official statement regarding the incident.
The family caused a commotion at TMH, demanding answers and accusing the police of staging an encounter.
