Jamshedpur Artist’s Terracotta Work Featured In New Parliament House

Mohan Karan’s Creations Represent Jharkhand In Aastha Gallery

Young artist’s masks and tiles showcase state’s forest wealth and cultural heritage.

JAMSHEDPUR – Mohan Karan, a talented artist from Sonari, has gained recognition for his beautiful terracotta artworks, which are currently on display in the new Parliament House in New Delhi.

"Being able to showcase my work in the Parliament House is the ultimate achievement for an artist," Karan expressed.

His beautiful creations, such as masks and tiles, are proudly displayed in the Aastha Gallery, showcasing the rich art of Jharkhand.

"Mohan’s work is the only piece from our state that is being showcased in the gallery," remarked a local art enthusiast.

The artworks are made from soil sourced from the Ganga river, and they beautifully portray the abundant forest resources of Jharkhand, without the use of any additional colors.

Jaya Jaitley, who is the head of the Dastkari Haat Committee, helped in the process of selecting clay artists from all over the country.

"Karan’s work was greatly appreciated by the management of Parliament House for its natural elegance," stated a committee member.

Karan is involved with the Tribal Artisan Group, which is a self-help organization based in Sonari.

His Dokra art, although it wasn’t chosen for Parliament, is now showcased in Tata Steel’s Mumbai office.

This achievement showcases the significant role that Jamshedpur has played in representing the nation’s culture.
