Jamshedpur Schools to Distribute Free Cycles to 8th Graders
State Welfare Initiative Aims to Boost Student Mobility and Attendance
The Jharkhand government’s Free Cycle Distribution Scheme enters its implementation phase, with local authorities instructed to expedite the process.
JAMSHEDPUR – District Magistrate Ananya Mittal has issued directives to Block Development Officers (BDOs) to distribute cycles to 8th grade students within the next two days, as part of the state’s Free Cycle Distribution Scheme for 2023-24.
"This initiative is crucial for enhancing student mobility and encouraging regular school attendance," Mittal stated. "We’re working to ensure every eligible student receives their cycle promptly."
The scheme, targeting all 8th grade students, provides cycles through different departments based on social categories:
– Welfare Department: Distributes to Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, and Minority students
– Education Department: Provides cycles to General Category students
"Coordination between schools, Block Education Extension Officers, and BDOs is key to the scheme’s success," emphasized a local education official. "We’re committed to a smooth and efficient distribution process."
This initiative reflects the state government’s efforts to support education and reduce transportation barriers for students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds.
Local authorities are now focused on swift implementation, with cycles already stored at block headquarters ready for distribution.
Parents and students are advised to stay in touch with their respective schools for specific distribution dates and any required documentation.
