R Hembrom seeks SSP’s intervention, alleges Amarjeet Sharma refused social marriage after years of relationship
Case highlights complexities of informal marriages and financial entanglements.
JAMSHEDPUR – R Hembrom, a resident of Chota Govindpur in Parsudih, has approached the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) alleging sexual exploitation and fraud by her partner, Amarjeet Sharma.
Hembrom claims she met Sharma, a tent house worker from Yashoda Nagar, in 2019 and married him at Rankini Temple in 2020.
"He kept postponing a social marriage ceremony despite my requests," Hembrom stated in her complaint.
She alleges Sharma took ₹6.43 lakh from her in 2021 but still refused a formal wedding.
Hembrom reports being evicted from their rented home after physical abuse.
On April 21, 2024, Hembrom and her family were allegedly insulted and driven away when they confronted Sharma.
A complaint was filed at Birsanagar SC/ST police station on May 7, 2024, but Hembrom claims no action was taken.
This case underscores issues surrounding informal marriages and financial disputes in relationships.
The allegations raise questions about legal protections for women in such situations.
SSP’s office is expected to investigate the matter and determine appropriate action.
Community leaders stress the importance of formal marriage registration to prevent such disputes.
