BJP’s Internal Strife Surfaces in Jamshedpur Ahead of Assembly Polls

Expelled media chief’s protest divides party workers, raising concerns of potential infighting

Local discord emerges as central leadership aims to strengthen BJP’s position in Jharkhand.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jamshedpur faced internal turmoil on Sunday as expelled city media chief Monty Agarwal staged a protest outside the party office.

Agarwal’s demonstration, coinciding with Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s death anniversary, sparked a heated confrontation among party workers.

The incident divided local BJP members into two factions – one supporting Agarwal and the other backing district president Sudhansu Ojha.

Agarwal challenged his expulsion, claiming to be a dedicated party worker, while his supporters hinted at retaliation in the upcoming assembly elections.

District president Ojha notably avoided media interactions during the commotion.

BJP leader Kulwant Singh Bunty intervened to calm tensions between the opposing groups.

This internal conflict emerges as the BJP aims to recover from losing three Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand.

The party’s central leadership recently appointed Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Himanta Biswa Sarma to oversee Jharkhand operations.

Political analysts warn that unresolved internal disputes could lead to sabotage in the assembly elections.

The incident highlights the challenges BJP faces in maintaining unity within its local ranks.

Party leaders are likely to address these internal issues to prevent potential negative impacts on electoral performance.

This local discord contrasts with the BJP’s efforts to project a united front at the state level.
