Firing Over Extortion Dispute In Millat Nagar Of Jugsalai, Allegation Of Threatening General Store Operator

Jamshedpur: An incident of firing has come to light in Habib Nagar, Millat Nagar of Jugsalai police station area late Saturday night over a dispute over extortion and loan. It is alleged that two youths from the same locality fired in the air to threaten a general store operator and fled from the spot. After the incident, an atmosphere of panic was created in the entire area.

Jugsalai DSP Sumit Kumar said that two youths named Bacha Raj and Paltan, residents of the locality, had reached a general store located in Millat Nagar. Both of them had bought goods worth about Rs 150, which the shopkeeper wrote in their name as credit. After some time, both the youths again reached the shop and started demanding money from the shopkeeper. When the shopkeeper refused to give the money, an altercation started between the two parties, which soon turned into a brawl.

Seeing the dispute escalating, the shopkeeper closed the shutter of his shop. Angered by this, the accused vandalized the shutter by kicking it several times. After this, two rounds of aerial firing were done with the aim of spreading panic in the area. It is said that one bullet was fired near the bumper located in front of the shop, while the other bullet was fired in a nearby area.

As soon as people heard the sound of gunshot, nearby people came out of their houses and there was chaos in the area. On receiving the information, Jugsalai police station reached the spot and inspected the spot. During the investigation, the police also recovered two shell casings from the spot.

Local people say that the accused youths already have links with criminal activities and many complaints have been received against them in the locality. However, the police is investigating all aspects.

Police have registered the case and started searching for the accused. The DSP said that the people involved in the incident will be identified and arrested soon. After the firing incident, local people have demanded increased police patrolling in the area and strict action against anti-social elements.
