Monsoon Arrives in Jharkhand with Yellow Alert, Brings Relief

Heavy Rainfall Forecast for Several Districts in Coming Days

Meteorological Department issues yellow alert as temperatures drop across the state.

RANCHI – The monsoon has officially entered Jharkhand through the northern border district of Pakur, with the Meteorological Department predicting widespread rainfall across the state.

Thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in some areas on June 23, with Ranchi likely to experience light to moderate showers.

"A yellow alert has been issued for Jamtara, Deoghar, Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Sahibganj on June 24 due to anticipated heavy rainfall," stated a Ranchi Meteorological Center official.

Heavy rains are forecasted to continue in several districts, including Deoghar and Dumka, on June 25 and 26.

Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, and Santhal Pargana may also witness significant rainfall from June 26 to 27.

The Kolhan region received the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours, with Jagannathpur in West Singhbhum district recording 75 mm.

Temperatures across all districts have dropped below 40 degrees Celsius, offering respite from the recent heatwave.

Daltonganj recorded the state’s highest temperature at 39.4 degrees Celsius.

Ranchi experienced its lowest June maximum temperature at 30 degrees Celsius.

The capital and surrounding areas are expected to maintain temperatures around 33-34 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

Meteorologists predict the monsoon’s arrival will bring much-needed relief and support agricultural activities across Jharkhand.
