Ghatshila Mahavidyalaya Launches Anti-Drug Campaign
Teachers, staff, and students of Ghatshila Mahavidyalaya pledge to create a drug-free society during an eight-day campaign.
Ghatshila Mahavidyalaya initiated an eight-day anti-drug campaign with a pledge from its community to abstain from drugs and raise awareness.
JAMSHEDPUR – An eight-day campaign against drug addiction was launched on Tuesday at Ghatshila Mahavidyalaya.
The college community, including teachers, non-teaching staff, and students, pledged to abstain from drugs such as ganja, hashish, opium, heroin, cocaine, and alcohol.
They also committed to educating their families, friends, and community members about the dangers of drug use.
College principal Dr. RK Chaudhary emphasized the severe social, economic, and physical harms caused by drug addiction.
He stated that drug abuse often leads to incurable diseases and highlighted the urgent need for a drug-free society.
Dr. Chaudhary noted, “Youth involvement is crucial. If young people educate their peers and family members about the issues arising from drug use, it will have a significant impact on society.
The campaign will feature various competitions, with top performers receiving awards.
A five-member jury has been formed to select the winners, consisting of Prof Indal Paswan, Lieutenant Maheshwar Pramanik, Prof Soma Singh, Dr. Kanhai Barik, and Dr. Kanchan Sinha.
Prof Manik Mardi, Dr Singo Soren, Niranjan Mahato, Saryu Paul, and Ruchi Asmita were also present at the event.
The campaign aims to foster a healthier community through education and proactive engagement.
