Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign to Launch in Jamshedpur District

Jamshedpur will see a robust anti-drug awareness campaign from June 19 to June 26, involving multiple institutions and community activities.
JAMSHEDPUR – An extensive awareness campaign against drug abuse is set to run in the district from June 19 to June 26.
Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Manish Kumar held a meeting on Tuesday, following the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), to plan the campaign.
It was decided that various city institutions would participate in the campaign to ensure its success.
The campaign will feature Chaupals at the village level, workshops at district and block levels, and street plays in markets and haats.
Schools will host quiz and essay writing competitions, and a bicycle rally will be organized.
Present at the meeting were the Civil Surgeon, District Social Welfare Officer, District Panchayat Raj Officer, District Public Relations Officer, and District Education Officer.
Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal emphasized the campaign’s goal to reduce the misuse of prohibited drugs and take strict legal action against smugglers and users involved in the trade.
Mittal added, "The campaign aims to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse, especially among adolescents and youth."
The campaign will involve the administration, non-governmental organizations, women’s organizations of JSLPS, Panchayati Raj institutions, and educational institutions, all directed to organize programs at their respective levels.
This comprehensive effort is part of a statewide initiative proposed by the state government.
