JAMSHEDPUR – On Monday, the Muslim community in Jamshedpur gathered at various Idgahs and mosques across the city to offer prayers and extend Bakrid wishes to one another, as per the scheduled time.

Bakrid, also known as Eid-ul-Azha, is celebrated 70 days after Eid and holds immense significance for the Muslim community.

The festival is deeply rooted in the life of Hazrat Ibrahim, and according to belief, the most beloved possession is sacrificed on this day, which is typically a goat.

The police and administration were on high alert to ensure the smooth and peaceful celebration of Bakrid in the city.

A substantial number of security personnel were deployed in and around the Idgahs and mosques since the morning to maintain law and order.

After offering the Bakrid prayers, people embraced each other, symbolizing unity and brotherhood, and carried out the ritual of sacrificing goats.

The community members also lauded the district administration for the elaborate arrangements made to facilitate the celebration of the festival.

Muslim devoteees said that the festival of Bakrid not only strengthens the bond within the Muslim community but also promotes harmony and understanding among people from different faiths, as they come together to celebrate this joyous occasion.
