JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee launches massive crackdown on banned plastic carry bags with enforcement team inspecting over 100 shops and collecting ₹55,000 in penalties.

The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee has initiated stringent action against single-use plastic items. The focus remains primarily on plastic carry bags. Deputy Municipal Commissioner formed a specialized enforcement squad for this purpose.

The inspection drive has covered more than 100 commercial establishments. Moreover, authorities have confiscated substantial quantities of prohibited plastic materials. The enforcement activities span across various locations including markets and shopping complexes.

The enforcement team comprises sanitation inspectors and food safety officers. Additionally, municipal managers and other responsible officials participate actively. However, their daily mandate involves monitoring markets and footpath vendors.

Violation of plastic ban rules has resulted in significant penalties. The total fine collection has reached ₹55,000 till date. Furthermore, strict action continues against non-compliant traders.

Citizens are being educated about environment-friendly bag alternatives. The administration promotes cloth, jute and paper bags instead. Meanwhile, special anti-plastic campaigns will commence from next week.

The upcoming awareness drive will target schools and markets. Community venues will also be included in the campaign. Besides, the initiative aims to create widespread environmental consciousness.

“This step is essential for environmental protection, not just rule compliance,” said a municipal official. The administration emphasized citizen cooperation in combating plastic pollution dangers.

The civic body has appealed to residents and traders. They should avoid single-use plastic carry bags completely. In addition, everyone must contribute to building a clean city.

The enforcement drive represents a comprehensive approach to plastic waste management. However, success depends on public participation and trader compliance. The administration remains committed to creating a sustainable urban environment.
