Violent Mob Attacks Drug De-Addiction Centre in Mango, Several Injured
Police Intervene as Mob Vandalizes Property and Assaults Staff, Leading to Arrests
A mob of armed youths attacked a drug de-addiction center in Mango, located just 50 meters from the Ulidih police station on the Mango Dimna main road.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a shocking incident, a violent mob armed with sharp weapons attacked a drug de-addiction center in Mango, near the Ulidih police station on Mango Dimna Road.
The mob left the center in shambles, injuring workers and causing damage to nearby businesses and vehicles.
Numerous attackers stormed the de-addiction center, using sticks, rods, and hammers to assault three staff members.
The violence quickly spread to nearby shops and hotels, where the mob damaged property and assaulted individuals, including a tempo driver and street vendors.
When police arrived to control the situation, they were also attacked by the mob and had to temporarily retreat.
They later returned with reinforcements and arrested several of the attackers.
The detained individuals defiantly cited political connections to challenge the police.
BJP leader Vikas Singh arrived at the Ulidih police station after learning of the violence.
He was confronted by a supporter of the attackers, who threatened him to stay away from the matter.
Despite the threats, Singh demanded the immediate arrest of those involved, emphasizing that no one should be above the law.
Singh reported the incident to the Senior Superintendent of Police, seeking stringent action against the perpetrators.
Tensions rose as hundreds from a particular community gathered at the Ulidih police station in support of the arrested individuals, threatening to block roads if their demands were not met.
In response, Vikas Singh reassured the public of the district administration’s support and intervention.
The timely intervention of Patamda DSP helped bring the situation under control.
The injured were taken to MGM Hospital for treatment.
The entire episode was recorded on CCTV, clearly showing a local Congress leader among the instigators, using political clout to intimidate.
