RAJKOT – Twenty people have died in the massive fire that broke out at a gaming zone in Gujarat’s Rajkot on Saturday evening, said officials.

The fire officer mentioned that they will be able to determine the exact number of casualties inside the zone after the fire is controlled and that the cause of the fire would be investigated.

All gaming zones in the city have been instructed to shut down as a precautionary measure.

The officer further explained the difficulties faced in the firefighting operation due to the collapse of the temporary structure and high wind velocity.

The reason for the fire has not yet been ascertained.

Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava noted that the gaming zone is owned by Yuvraj Singh Solanki.

He also stated that the rescue operations are ongoing, the fire is under control, and efforts are being made to retrieve as many bodies as possible.

About 20 bodies have been recovered and sent to the hospital for further investigation.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel instructed officials to prioritize arrangements for the immediate treatment of the injured.

He emphasized that instructions had been given to the Municipal Corporation and the administration for immediate rescue and relief operations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his distress over the incident, conveying his condolences to those who lost their loved ones and prayers for the injured.

He stated that the local administration is working to provide all possible assistance to those affected.

The fire has claimed the lives of 20 people and left several injured.

Efforts are ongoing to control the fire and rescue those trapped inside.
