S Devi, a resident of Azad Nagar, Jamshedpur, was found dead by hanging, with her family alleging foul play and dowry harassment.
JAMSHEDPUR – S Devi, who resided near Kela Bagan in the Azad Nagar police station area, was found dead by hanging on Friday afternoon.
She was immediately taken down and rushed to Brahmanand Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Following the incident, her family members, who arrived from Gaya in Bihar, have accused her husband, Deepak Kumar, and his family of murder.
The deceased’s brother revealed that his sister was married just four months ago.
He stated that she had been subjected to physical and mental torture by her in-laws, who demanded a Bullet motorcycle as dowry.
The harassment had reportedly been ongoing for several days.
At 12:30 pm, S Devis family members were at the Azad Nagar police station, filing a written complaint against her in-laws, alleging murder.
The police are investigating the allegations and have yet to make any arrests.
