Road accident victim’s relatives gherao Burmamines police station

Jamshedpur: Relatives and acquaintances of the woman who had died in a road accident near BOC Gases on Monday after being hit by a tanker gheraoed and demonstrated at Burmamines police station Tuesday demanding immediate action against the driver responsible for the accident. Unhappy with the action taken by the Burmamines police, they also shouted slogans against the police.

A large number of locals gheraoed the police station and demanded that the trailer driver be arrested immediately and action be taken against him. The police station in-charge assured them that action would be taken in the case.

The police have seized the trailer involved in the accident and investigation is on in the case.

It may be recalled, that iIn a tragic accident, a heavy vehicle dashed against a woman riding a Scooty. The woman died on the spot. The driver of the vehicle, however, managed to escape with the vehicle.

The police had sent the dead body of the woman to MGMCH. The deceased was later identified as Deepa Kaur of Gol Pahadi area.

The family members of the deceased were informed by the police. According to information received, the deceased was going to her office when an unidentified vehicle had dashed against her Scooty near Burmamines BOC Gases. The vehicle was later identified by the police.

The police were trying to trace out the vehicle involved in the accident as well as the driver and finally they did manage to find the trailer that was involved in the accident.

Burmamines police station gheraoed on Tuesday demanding quick action in the road accident case.

It may be added that only 2 days back, a person named Bapi Mahato too was killed in a road accident near R D Tata Gol Chakkar.

The number of road accidents had come down during the coronavirus lockdown period. Once again the number of road accidents in the city are rising steadily.
