Strategic Collaboration Set to Drive Innovation and Sustainability in Mining Sector
In a significant move to advance India’s mining sector, Tata Steel and TEXMiN have entered into a strategic partnership, focusing on ushering in new technological innovations and improving sustainability in mining operations. The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel, through its Tata Steel Industrial Consulting Division (TSIC), and TEXMiN, the Mining Technology Innovation Hub of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, have established a partnership aimed at revolutionizing natural resource management and mining practices across India.
D.B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President of Raw Materials at Tata Steel, highlighted the partnership’s goal to pioneer advancements and establish new standards of efficiency and sustainability in the mining industry.
Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Project Director at TEXMiN and Deputy Director at IIT (ISM), emphasized the venture’s focus on research, innovation, and skill development within the mining sector.
Suraj Prakash, CEO of TEXMiN, commented on the commitment to leveraging technological innovations to facilitate the digital transformation of mining enterprises.
The alliance encompasses various initiatives including integrating state-of-the-art software and digital tools into mining processes, which are expected to enhance operational efficiencies.
Additionally, the partnership will focus on developing training programs tailored to modernize skill sets in exploration, mining, and regulatory compliance, aiming to build a proficient workforce equipped to handle future industry demands.
Both TSIC and TEXMiN plan to develop and implement innovative products and services that are scalable and address current industry challenges.
The collaboration extends to participating in both governmental and private sector projects, aiming to drive substantial changes in the mining landscape through a combination of expertise from both entities.
