NIA Arrests Militant from Ranchi in Multi-State Operation
Key PLFI Militant Detained by NIA for Levy Collection
The National Investigation Agency has apprehended a militant involved in extortion activities across four states.
RANCHI – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant breakthrough by arresting a militant named Binod Munda alias Sukhwa, involved in extorting coal traders, transporters, railway contractors, and traders in Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
This arrest is part of a wider crackdown on the activities of the PLFI militant organization, to which the arrested individual belongs.
The NIA conducted simultaneous raids in Khunti, Jharkhand, and Assam, leading to Munda’s capture in Khunti district.
During the operation, the NIA seized various incriminating materials, including two walkie-talkies, five mobile phones, SIM cards, money, and documents linked to PLFI.
This follows the arrest of two individuals associated with the same case, found in possession of Rs 3 lakh and weapons.
The arrest of Dinesh Gope, a key PLFI militant, in May 2023 from Nepal, has led to intensified efforts by remaining members to reorganize and strengthen the militant group.
Gope’s interrogation provided the NIA with crucial information that has likely contributed to the latest operational success in curtailing PLFI’s extortion network.
