Heavy storm damage in Matiyabandhi Panchayat prompts MLA visit and calls for swift compensation
A severe storm in Chakulia block damages over 60 houses across three villages, affecting numerous families.
JAMSHEDPUR – A devastating storm struck the Chakulia block on Monday evening, severely impacting Matiyabandhi Panchayat’s villages, with 52 houses in Ganga village, 13 in Durgadih, and three in Matiyabandhi village sustaining significant damage.
In response to the widespread destruction, Baharagora MLA Sameer Mahanti and Circle Officer Upendra Kumar visited the affected areas on Tuesday morning to assess the situation and ensure prompt assistance.
MLA Sameer Mahanti has instructed the Circle Officer to expedite the distribution of government compensation to the storm-affected families, facilitating urgent repairs to their homes.
Among the damaged properties were the homes of 13 residents in Durgadih village, including Supai Murmu, Chamru Kisku, and Somai Kisku, highlighting the storm’s intensity.
In Ganga village, the households of 52 individuals, such as Bhagwat Soren and Narsingh Soren, suffered damage, underlining the severe impact on the community.
Community leaders and Panchayat representatives, including Panchayat head Yadunath Hembram and Gopan Parihari, were present to support the affected families and coordinate relief efforts.
This calamity has brought the community together, with government and local leaders stepping in to provide necessary support and rebuild the affected areas.
