District officials review poll readiness in Gudabanda, Baharagora blocks

DEO Ananya Mittal and SSP Kishore Kaushal inspect polling booths, police pickets ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections

District Election Officer Ananya Mittal, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal, and Superintendent of Police (Rural) Rishabh Garg conducted a comprehensive review of election preparations in the Gudabandha and Baharagora blocks of the district, inspecting polling booths and police pickets to assess the availability of basic facilities and security arrangements ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

JAMSHEDPUR – The DEO Ananya Mitta and the SSP Kishore Kaushal reviewed the election preparedness in Gudabandha and Baharagora blocks and also inspected several polling booths.

"The entire election process should be conducted in a clean, error-free, and transparent manner," said District Election Officer Ananya Mittal, emphasizing the need for strict compliance with the Model Code of Conduct.

The officials took stock of essential amenities such as toilets, ramps, electricity, drinking water, entry and exit gates, lighting, and mobile sockets at the polling stations, providing necessary directions to the officials present at the site to ensure the smooth functioning of the polling process.

The District Election Officer and Senior Superintendent of Police also conducted a review meeting with the Block Development Officer (BDO), Circle Officer (CO), Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the Gudabanda and Baharagora block headquarters, focusing on various aspects of election management, including critical polling stations, estimation of postal ballot voters, cluster formation, route charts, communication plans, and sensitive pockets regarding expenditure.

Emphasis on voter awareness and facilitation

"Public awareness is necessary to ensure electoral participation of all people," the District Election Officer stated, instructing the administration to conduct extensive voter awareness programs and motivate voters through door-to-door campaigns.

The officials also directed the authorities to provide facilities for elderly and disabled voters in accordance with the Election Commission’s provisions, including arranging for voting at polling booths or at home for elderly voters and ensuring proper accessibility for disabled voters at polling stations.

Strict adherence to Model Code of Conduct

With the announcement of the election date, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect, and the District Election Officer urged administrative and police officials to discharge their responsibilities actively and refrain from showing any negligence in election-related work.
