Ghatshila College Mobilizes for Voter Awareness

Voter awareness drive encourages 100% turnout in Jamshedpur Lok Sabha elections.

In a concerted effort to boost electoral participation, Ghatshila College has launched a comprehensive voter awareness campaign. The campaign is designed to encourage students and their families to engage actively in the upcoming Jamshedpur Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 25.

GHATSHILA – In an effort to encourage electoral participation, Ghatshila College has launched a comprehensive voter awareness campaign.

Principal Dr. RK Choudhary of Ghatshila College administered an oath to the college community, emphasizing the importance of exercising their voting rights in accordance with Election Commission guidelines.

Dr. Choudhary highlighted the historical significance of India’s first Lok Sabha elections, which were conducted from October 25, 1951, to February 21, 1952, marking the inception of India’s democracy.

Dr. Choudhary noted the stark contrast in literacy and electoral participation from the early days of Indian democracy to the present.

He stressed the college’s role in educating about 14,000 students on the importance of voting.

A major component of the campaign involves students visiting at least five relatives to advocate for voter participation.

"Each vote contributes uniquely to our democratic fabric," Dr. Choudhary remarked during the event, underlining the power of individual votes.

Dr. SK Singh, an academic at the college, emphasized the importance of these initiatives, "Such efforts ensure our democratic values are upheld by encouraging full participation."

The event saw a large turnout, including students and notable academics like Dr. SP Singh and Dr. Sandeep Chandra, reflecting widespread support for the initiative.
