SER Freight Loading Sees Growth
South Eastern Railway’s freight loading up 3.54% in April-January period
Freight loading revenue of South Eastern Railway climbs to ₹15656.42 crore, marking a 4.73% increase in the current fiscal year.
JAMSHEDPUR – The South Eastern Railway (SER) has reported a significant uptick in freight loading activities, with a total of 173.07 million tonnes (MT) transported in the first ten months of the 2023-24 financial year.
This marks a 3.54% increase over the same period in the previous fiscal year.
The revenue from these operations has seen a corresponding rise, reaching ₹15656.42 crore, up from ₹14948.86 crore, reflecting a growth of 4.73%.
Notably, SER has witnessed substantial gains in the loading and earnings from coal, iron ore, and fertilizer.
Coal loading alone accounted for 43.51 MT, generating ₹4784.48 crore in revenue, a 7.03% increase over the previous year.
The surge in freight loading encompasses a diverse range of commodities including iron ore, pig iron, finished steel, cement, fertilizers, and petroleum products, underscoring the railway’s pivotal role in supporting the region’s economic activities
