Saryu Roy Urges Jharkhand Govt to Issue White Paper on Finance
Jharkhand Budget Session Cut to 7 Days, Saryu Roy Demands Financial Transparency from Jharkhand Government
Saryu Roy calls for a white paper on Jharkhand’s finances ahead of the state’s brief budget session, highlighting past issues and the need for clarity.
RANCHI – The upcoming budget session marks the last for Jharkhand’s fifth assembly, spotlighting the necessity for financial disclosure.
Saryu Roy has committed to questioning the administration about unresolved issues from previous legislative sessions.
Roy pointed out the government’s inability to fully utilize budget allocations as a possible reason for the session’s brevity.
He suggested that the short budget session may aim to circumvent potential governance crises due to ministerial instability.
The discussion on budget demands is limited, with most departments’ budgets likely to be hastily approved without thorough debate.
This year’s budget session will exceptionally span only seven days, contrasting with the longer sessions of previous years.
Roy emphasizes the importance of presenting the last four years’ financial records in the assembly.
He has criticized the government for not adequately justifying its expenditure of the allocated budget.
Roy also highlighted the lack of response to his queries on corruption within government departments.
The call for a white paper is in line with previous practices, aiming to shed light on the state’s financial health under Champai Soren’s leadership.
