CM Champai Soren Allocates Departments Post-Cabinet Expansion
Cabinet Portfolio Allotment, Old Ministers Retain Portfolio, CM Keeps Home with Himself
Champai Soren, the new Chief Minister, has swiftly assigned portfolios to ministers, maintaining continuity with the previous administration under Hemant Soren.
Ranchi: In the allotment of portfolios to the ministers, the CM Champai Soren has not tried to make major changes and has preferred to continue with the old arrangement largely.
Key departments such as Personnel, Home, Cabinet Secretariat, and Monitoring remain under Champai Soren, alongside unassigned sectors.
Basant Soren, the younger brother of Hemant Soren, now oversees the Road Construction, Building Construction, and Water Resources Departments, highlighting his significant role in the new cabinet.
The distribution reflects a blend of continuity and reorganization among ministers from different party quotas, with notable assignments as follows:
– Congress’s Alamgir Alam takes charge of Rural Development, Rural Affairs, and Panchayati Raj.
– RJD’s Satyanand Bhokta is assigned Labor and Industry.
– Rameshwar Oraon from Congress oversees Finance, Planning and Development, Commercial Tax, and Food Supply.
– JMM’s Deepak Birua, replacing Joba Manjhi, handles Welfare for SC/ST/Backward Classes and Transport.
– Congress’s Banna Gupta retains Health and Disaster Management.
– Badal Patralekh gets Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperation.
– Mithilesh Thakur, close to Hemant Soren, oversees Drinking Water and Sanitation, and Excise and Prohibition.
– Hafizul Hasan is responsible for Minority Welfare, Registration, and Tourism, Art, Culture, and Sports.
– Baby Devi takes on Women, Child Development, and Social Security.
This reshuffle suggests a strategic allocation of responsibilities, aiming to ensure effective governance and continuity in the state’s administration.
All the continuing ministers have been given almost the same portfolios which they got in Hemant Soren cabinet.
Apart from the Personnel Department, Home Department, Cabinet Secretariat and Monitoring Department, Chief Minister Champai Soren has kept with himself all those departments which have not been allotted to other ministers.
The special thing is that Basant Soren, younger brother of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who took oath as a minister, has been given Road Construction Department, Building Construction Department and Water Resources Department.
All these are considered heavy departments.
Congress quota minister Alamgir Alam has got Rural Development Department, Rural Affairs Department and Panchayati Raj Department.
Satyanand Bhokta, who became minister from RJD quota, has got Labor Department and Industry Department.
Rameshwar Oraon has got the responsibility of Finance Department, Planning and Development Department, apart from Commercial Tax Department and Food Supply Department.
Deepak Birua, who became minister from JMM quota in place of Joba Manjhi, has got the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Class Welfare Department and Transport Department.
Congress quota minister Banna Gupta has again been given the responsibility of Health and Disaster Management Department.
Badal Patralekh has got the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation.
The special thing is that minister Mithilesh Thakur, who is considered very close to Hemant Soren, has got the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation as well as the Department of Excise and Prohibition.
Whereas Hafizul Hasan has been given the responsibility of Minority Welfare Department, Registration Department and Tourism, Art, Culture and Sports Department.
Baby Devi has been entrusted with the Women, Child Development and Social Security Department.
Overall, the four ministers from Congress quota have been given almost the same portfolios which they got in the cabinet of former CM Hemant.
But there has been a lot of reshuffle in the departments of JMM quota ministers.
