Collaboration Focuses on Materials, Energy, Low-Carbon Production for Sustainable Future

Tata Steel and IIT Bhubaneswar REP sign MoU for projects targeting advancements in materials, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel deepens its commitment to innovation with a new partnership with IIT Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park (REP). The MoU focuses on materials processing, energy, environment, circular economy, and low-carbon steel production.

The agreement was exchanged during the 100-Cube Start-up Conclave at IIT Bhubaneswar, witnessed by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. CEO & MD of Tata Steel, T.V. Narendran, and Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar & Chairman of REP, formalized the collaboration.

Narendran emphasized the potential of India’s youth-led startups and the role of industry in nurturing innovation for a stronger India. He noted the value of partnering with academia for transforming ideas into real-world applications.

The Tata Steel-IIT Bhubaneswar REP collaboration extends beyond research, targeting technology transfer and fostering a thriving startup ecosystem. This builds upon an existing partnership between the two organizations on battery research initiatives.
