Income Tax Offices in Jamshedpur Sparkle in CBDT’s Cleanliness Fortnight

Jamshedpur’s Income Tax Department embarks on an extensive cleanliness drive, reflecting a commitment to hygiene and environmental sustainability.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Income Tax Department in Jamshedpur is spearheading a comprehensive cleanliness campaign, aligning with the Cleanliness Fortnight initiative by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), set to conclude on January 31.

This initiative saw the enthusiastic participation of all officers and staff members, who committed to cleanliness through an online pledge taken on January 16.

Former Olympian Harbhajan Singh, representing local dignitaries, delivered a compelling message on the significance of cleanliness at the Republic Day event, underscoring it as a cornerstone of progress within the department.

The campaign included a focused tree plantation effort on January 29, where fruit-bearing saplings were planted across various Income Tax Department locations in Jamshedpur.

Additionally, a meticulous cleaning operation was undertaken at the Dobho Dam area, emphasizing thorough environmental upkeep.

An innovative aspect of this campaign was the auctioning off of unused paper and electronic devices, which not only cleared 800 square feet of office space but also generated Rs 70,000 in revenue.

Daily cleaning activities are a core part of this initiative, with efforts to maintain cleanliness within and around all Income Tax Department facilities.

Shishir Dhamija, the Chief Income Tax Commissioner of Jamshedpur, alongside N Hemlatha, the Additional Income Tax Commissioner, led this initiative, with significant involvement from officers like headquarters officer Bijay Kumar and the entire departmental staff.

Dhamija reiterated the vital role of cleanliness in his address, advocating for a culture of cleanliness both at home and within office environments, aiming to enhance the quality of services provided to taxpayers.
