Young Chess Prodigy Nikunj Agrawal Clinches Top Spot at All India Open Rapid Rating Chess Tournament

Nikunj Agrawal’s remarkable victory in the 4th Navin Kumar Sinha Memorial All India Open Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2024, earning the top spot in the Under-13 Boys category and achieving a rapid FIDE Elo Rating increase, marks a promising future in chess.

JAMSHEDPUR – Today, the Chandan Chess Academy (CCA) in Sonari celebrated the exceptional achievement of Nikunj Agrawal, a young chess prodigy.

Agrawal recently dominated the 4th Navin Kumar Sinha Memorial All India Open Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2024, held in Chaibasa.

In a fiercely competitive Under-13 Boys category, he clinched the first position and received a cash prize of ₹1500.

This tournament attracted 199 participants from across India, highlighting the significance of Agrawal’s accomplishment.

Notably, Agrawal’s performance in the tournament boosted his rapid FIDE Elo Rating to 110, the highest rating increase among the players.

In the tournament’s 9 rounds, he amassed an impressive score of 6.5 points.

With a FIDE ID of 25769162, Agrawal currently holds a FIDE Rapid Rating of 1112 and a Classical Rating of 1220.

The ceremony at CCA was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Shankar Sarkar and Akshay Agrawal, both noted social workers, and Chandan Kumar Prasad, the Head of CCA and a FIDE Arbiter.

Chandan Kumar Prasad expressed confidence in Agrawal’s future, foreseeing his emergence as a formidable and talented chess player on both national and international stages.
