Record-Breaking Participation in Tata Steel Sport Climbing Championship 2024
Tata Steel Adventure Foundation inaugurates the first-ever International Tata Steel Sport Climbing Championship 2024, featuring over 300 athletes, including international participants.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) at the JRD Tata Sports Complex has inaugurated the 4th edition of the Tata Steel Sport Climbing Championship.
Set to occur from January 26-29, 2024, the championship is being hosted by TSAF.
Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Tata Steel, and Ujjal Chakraborti, MD of JCAPCPL, attended as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively.
The opening ceremony featured the introduction of the championship mascot, ‘ARIA,’ along with Republic Day celebrations.
For the first time, the event will witness international athletes from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Nepal, alongside Indian climbers.
With over 300 participants, the championship is now one of the largest climbing events in India.
The competition spans all three sport climbing formats: Speed Climbing, Lead Climbing, and Bouldering, across various age and gender categories.
The TSAF Sport Climbing Arena, renowned for its state-of-the-art infrastructure, is the venue for this international event.
Over 30 officials from India and abroad underscore the championship’s rising international stature.
Hemant Gupta, Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, and Vibhuti Adesara from Tata Steel were also present, highlighting the event’s significance in the climbing community.
This championship is eagerly anticipated by athletes as a premier climbing event in India.
