JAMSHEDPUR – Prashant Kumar, Secretary of the Water Resources Department, recently conducted an inspection of the Swarnarekha River banks and Dalma Eco Sensitive Zone in Jamshedpur.
The inspection aimed to assess illegal constructions in these areas.
Kumar mentioned that a complaint regarding these violations had been filed with the Green Tribunal, which has now formed a committee and requested a report.
The focus of the inspection was on commercial activities being conducted within the eco-sensitive zones.
Prior surveys by Water Resources Department officials and the DFO of Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary were conducted to gather preliminary data.
Kumar’s visit to Jamshedpur was to verify the accuracy of these surveys.
He discussed potential measures to curb illegal construction along the Swarnarekha River banks and halt commercial activities in the Dalma Eco Sensitive Zone.
His findings and recommendations from this inspection will be compiled in a report for submission to the High Court.
