JAMSHEDPUR – Demonstrating remarkable dedication to social welfare, the family of the late Shiv Shankar Lal donated his body to MGM Medical College in Jamshedpur for research purposes. Lal, a resident of Baridih, had passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2024.

Years before his demise, Lal had formally declared his intent to donate his body for medical research. On December 24, 2020, he informed the district administration of his wish in a written pledge, which was communicated to all family members. On Friday, his three sons, Vinay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, and Ajay Kumar, honored his final wish by handing over his body to MGM Medical College.

PSF guide Sunil Kumar Verma, who regarded Lal as a father figure, played a pivotal role in ensuring that the pledge was fulfilled. Verma, along with the family, handed over the body to the medical institution. Arijit Sarkar, director of Team PSF, praised the family’s decision, calling it an unparalleled contribution to society and medical education.

Such donations provide valuable resources for medical research and student training. MGM Medical College, one of the largest healthcare and educational institutions in the region, regularly receives such contributions that significantly aid its programs.
