Former Lt Governor Bedi Inspires XLRI Students at Maxi Fair

Kiran Bedi, India’s first woman IPS officer and former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, shared valuable life lessons at XLRI’s Maxi Fair 2024 in Jamshedpur. Emphasizing discipline and integrity, Bedi inspired students with her journey, stressing the importance of stepping out of comfort zones and embracing challenges for success.

JAMSHEDPUR – Kiran Bedi, who has also served as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, engaged with XLRI students during a question-and-answer session at the end of her address.

In her speech, Bedi highlighted the transformative impact she had on prisoners’ lives during her tenure in Tihar Jail, focusing on education and self-reliance.

She shared her journey of teaching prisoners to read and write, a pioneering initiative she undertook as the first woman to do so.

Bedi’s experience in Tihar Jail included personalized attention to prisoners’ education, even visiting those who cited illness to ensure continuity in learning.

In her address, Bedi discussed the value of concentration and creativity in student life, drawing from her own experiences to illustrate their importance.

She attributed her success to adhering strictly to the principles of discipline and integrity, offering personal anecdotes to emphasize their significance.

Bedi elaborated on the concept of integrity, defining it as a blend of kindness, respect, trustworthiness, responsibility, and helpfulness.

She traced her roots back to Chandigarh, where she grew up and was educated, underlining the role of disciplined upbringing in shaping her into a successful woman.

Bedi urged students to step beyond their comfort zones to achieve their aspirations, highlighting this as a crucial step towards success.

The event began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, marking the start of the Maxi Fair 2024 at XLRI, where Bedi was the esteemed chief guest.
