JAC Limits Student Registration to Allotted Seats in Jharkhand

Jharkhand Academic Council Enforces Seat Limit for Inter College Admissions

Jharkhand Academic Council’s new mandate restricts student registrations to the pre-allotted seat numbers in inter colleges.

RANCHI – K Ravi Kumar, Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department, has issued a directive to all District Education Officers in Jharkhand, enforcing a strict adherence to allotted seat capacities in inter colleges.

This move by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) ensures that student registrations exceeding the assigned number of seats will not be acknowledged.

The Secretary’s letter highlights that each ‘Approved Inter College’ is allocated 128 seats per faculty, while ‘Approved Colleges’ have a quota of 384 seats per faculty.

This decision aims to maintain the quality of education by upholding the necessary infrastructure and teacher-student ratio standards.

Colleges have often requested JAC for seat increases or registration approvals, citing excess nominations beyond their allotted seats.

The policy also outlines that financial grants to colleges will correlate directly with the number of seats allotted.

Grant applications will be assessed based on adherence to seat allotments; any indication of exceeding these numbers will lead to rejection.

The deadline for student enrollment in any session is set for 30th September, with colleges expected to complete the nomination process by this date and refrain from accepting nominations thereafter.

Further, all enrolled student details must be uploaded to the e-Vidya Vahini portal, ensuring transparency and compliance with the new regulations.

This development marks a significant step in regulating admissions and maintaining educational standards in Jharkhand’s inter colleges.
